Lorem Ipsum
Generate placeholder text by paragraphs, sentences or words
About Lorem Ipsum
Produces 1 to 20 paragraphs, sentences or words of pseudo-Latin filler in a read-only box with a copy button. Faker's lorem generator picks the words at random, so every click gives a new text, and paragraphs are separated by blank lines so they stay apart when pasted into an editor or CMS. Useful for wireframes, mockups and testing how layouts handle different text lengths.
Category: Text.
Frequently asked questions
What is Lorem Ipsum?
▾
Scrambled, partly nonsensical Latin derived from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum (45 BC), used as filler text in typesetting and design. Its use is documented at least since the 1960s, when Letraset transfer sheets popularized it, and desktop publishing software spread it further in the 1980s.
Why use placeholder text?
▾
It prevents reviewers from focusing on content meaning during layout or design reviews, keeping attention on visual hierarchy, spacing, and typography.
What units can I generate?
▾
Paragraphs, sentences or words, from 1 to 20 per click. Each paragraph has three sentences of 3 to 10 words, sentences start with a capital letter and end with a period, and Words mode returns lowercase words without punctuation.
Does the text start with 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet'?
▾
No. Faker strings together random words from a Latin vocabulary, so the output doesn't reproduce the classic opening passage and changes on every click. If you need the traditional first line, type it before the generated text.
