About Base64
Encodes text to standard Base64 and decodes Base64 back into readable text, using UTF-8 in both directions. Decoding ignores line breaks and spaces, so wrapped Base64 can be pasted as is. Handy for HTTP Basic auth headers, Kubernetes secret values or checking what an encoded config value contains, and nothing you paste leaves your browser.

Does it handle accented characters and emoji?

Yes. Text is converted to UTF-8 bytes before encoding, so café becomes Y2Fmw6k=, and decoded bytes are read back as UTF-8. If they aren't valid UTF-8, for example Base64 of an image or another binary file, you get an error even though the Base64 itself is valid.
Does it support URL-safe Base64?

No. Output always uses the standard alphabet with + and / and = padding, and input containing - or _ is rejected. To decode Base64url, such as a JWT segment, replace - with + and _ with / first; the missing padding is fine.
Why does Base64 output end with = signs?

Padding characters make the output length a multiple of 4. One = means one byte of padding was added; == means two. This tool always adds padding when encoding and also accepts input without it when decoding.
Does Base64 encrypt my data?

No. Base64 is encoding, not encryption. Anyone with the encoded string can decode it instantly. Never use it to secure sensitive data — use proper encryption (AES, RSA) instead.
